Mr. Raub provided me with the deepest spiritual experience of my life up to that point when I joined the Chorale to sing the Brahms Requiem. I will always be grateful for his passion and love of the music, and the way he imparted this appreciation to everyone who performed under him. He was not in my life for long nor recently, but his impact resonates to this day. He instilled in me an appreciation for the vocal form which led me to many joyful years of voice training and performing. The world is worse for his passing, but he is in that Greater Music now, no doubt assembling another choir to lift the hearts and souls of all who hear. Thank you, Mr. Raub, for enriching my life by opening the secret spiritual experience that comes in that magical moment when my voice joins and blends with the rest of the choir, and together we weave a rich tapestry that is so much more than the sum of the parts. The first time I experienced this was when we performed the Brahms Requiem, and it was all I could do to hold the tears back and keep singing. Thirty years later I remember it like it was yesterday. May you be blessed in your Heaven World by all of the love and admiration of the thousands of people whose lives you have touched. It's been an honor to know you and to work with you. You will be missed. |

| Mr. Raub was truly one of the greatest choral directors I've ever had the pleasure to study under. Finding out about his passing has truly shocked me, never was there a more energetic and detail oriented instructor. I never knew I could be part of such an amazing sounding group and I am very proud to have his name on my resume and in my life. I only wish that my students could have had the pleasure and honor of singing for him. He will be missed but I will never forget the time I got to spend learning from him. Mr. Raub, you are truly missed | |||

| Guess I'll put my 2 cents. Richard Raub was one of those few music mentors who really made in difference in my musical upbringing. I sang in Haydn's The Seasons with the OCC Chorale (1977?), and I do remember the instruction to not lock my knees. Thank you Mr. Raub for your generosity, and your many gifts which enriched so many of us. "O noble toil, from thee all virtue flows!" | |||

I am full of gratitude for Richard's life and his manifold gifts. I was privileged to have him as guest conductor at Chapman College for a term during my studies there, and I'll never forget his dedication and high standards. I was so honored to be hired as soloist with OCC for the Mozart C Minor Mass shortly thereafter (one of my very first professional engagements) and remain grateful for that opportunity and what I learned from him. I was most deeply touched by the 3 page (single spaced) typed letter he wrote to me explaining his profound belief in the responsibility of talented musicians to bless others through their gifts--I was and remain in awe that he took such time and care to share those thoughts with me. He lived by example in this way and has inspired thousands. He is no doubt continuing to express his God-given talents in ever grander concert halls and classrooms. Although I regret not being with you tonight, I send so much love, Jennie |

Thank you, thank you, thank you to David Stoneman and all who contributed to this magnificent website in honor of a man that was a tremendous influence and a continuing presence in my life and, quite candidly, in my student's musical lives as well. Richard Raub had the greatest impact on my musical growth during my collegiate years, and this includes my time at Chapman College (University, now). I extend my deep and profound sympathies to his beloved wife, Connie and to all who loved him; I know the latter numbers in the many thousands. With respect and humility, Edward (Eddie) Chade May Richard Raubs memory be eternal and may he rest with the saints where there is no longer any sorrow, pain or sighing. |

Richard was and has been an inspiration to us since we first met him in the 1960s. He enriched our musical and personal lives, and more so when Connie entered the picture. The two of them were good friends and colleagues. We hope Connie will continue in that role. Love from Marjie and Jim |

| I would like to share a perspective with you that may be a little different from some of the other memorable tributes I have read. I was blessed to have spent two days with Richard and Connie on September 26th and 27th, just eight short days before he left us. He was carrying on in a noble and absolutely heroic manner. Never a complaint, always a smile, always a word of encouragement. He spoke nothing but kind words about others, especially you are who are now reading these words. We talked and reminisced, looked through the books of programs and memorabilia which he had meticulously preserved. We laughed and we cried, shared meals and listened to music together. I am so very thankful to have had that special time with him. Through it all Connie was absolutely tireless at his side - such devotion and true love. We are all honored to be counted among her friends. It just breaks my heart that I am not able to sing with you one last time together as you offer your voices in song to the memory of the great man we all love so much. I stand in awe of Richard in so very many ways. He mastered whatever he chose to pursue. Richard inexorably changed the lives of all those that he came into contact with - yours and certainly mine. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude and I can only pray that we will be able to do the same for a few others in our own lifetimes. He was a great musician, a mentor, a friend to all, and a giant of a man. | |||

| There are no words to say all I owe to Richard Raub. He encouraged me to change my major to music and to audition for his Alma Mater, Westminster Choir College. What a wonder decision that was! I would have had a very different life without his influence. His example was to always find what more was in the music if you worked just a bit harder! It was always worth the effort! He will always be a part of me. | |||

| We have fond memories of our time singing for Richard both at West Anaheim United Methodist Church and at OCC. He developed in us a love of great sacred music that endures to this day. We were delighted when he brought Connie into our lives. We will miss him greatly and will cherish him and Connie always. | |||

Dick Raub was the most influential voice teacher of my career. He not only encouraged me as a high school student when I attended ISOMATA in 1971, but all through my years at OCC and beyond. Many of the good things I experienced in music were due in large part to the wonderful things I learned from this great teacher...discipline, work ethic, and the love of the music!!!!Much Love to all who are able to participate in the memorial!Jenny |

| Mr. Raub took a chance on me. When I was still just a senior in high school, I was invited to join his Chamber Singers, forever changing my life. I have not been in contact with anyone since I left school, so I was shocked to hear of his passing. He had a gift and he gave a small piece of it to each of us, each time we sang for him. This has left me speechless. | |||
